Xiaomi 17 Max will be unveiled in China this month, as announced by the company on Wednesday. This phone is anticipated to join the flagship series, which features models like the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and the premium Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Before its expected launch, the brand has shared hints about the new phone's design, along with its screen size and available colors. The Xiaomi 17 Max is thought to be positioned above the regular Xiaomi 17 in this series. Official previews released by Xiaomi on Weibo indicate that the Xiaomi 17 Max will have a sizable 6.9-inch flat screen with quite narrow edges. The smartphone displays a rounded rectangular camera setup, differing from the larger circular design seen in the 17 Ultra. Through the teaser pictures, it has been confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 Max will be offered in black, blue, and white color choices. Lu Weibing, who is the President of Xiaomi Group, mentioned that the Xiaomi 17 Max is a “fully upgraded” version of the regular Xiaomi 17 rather than just being a bigger model. Pre-orders for the Xiaomi 17 Max in China have started before its official release.
Thanks to multiple leaks, we think that the 6.9-inch display of the Xiaomi 17 Max might be a 1.5K LTPO panel that supports a refresh rate of 120Hz. The phone is expected to come with dual stereo speakers that are symmetrical, a high rating for water resistance, and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner under the display. This device is also rumored to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, combined with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. For photography, the Xiaomi 17 Max is believed to have a primary camera of 200 megapixels from Samsung's ISOCELL HP series. This camera setup might also feature a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera that supports 3x optical zoom. The Xiaomi 17 Max is expected to have a huge 8,000mAh battery. If true, this would be the largest battery seen in any Xiaomi smartphone so far. The charging capabilities are anticipated to include 100W fast charging through a wired connection and 50W wireless charging with PPS compatibility. Earlier reports indicated that Xiaomi plans to place the Xiaomi 17 Max in a higher price category compared to the regular Xiaomi 17, mainly because of its larger display, high-end camera features, and enormous battery. The smartphone is likely to be released in China later this month alongside other models in the Xiaomi 17 series.
