San Francisco fencing coach wins the Olympic Coach of the Year Award

The United States Fencing Olympic Coach Greg Massialas wins Olympic Coach of the Year. He is the first ever fencing coach in history to win this title.

Greg is the USA’s fencing Olympic coach, based from San Francisco. Greg is a three time Olympic winner himself. He became the head coach for the United States Men’s Foil Team in 2011.

His organization trains olympees from the United States who want to compete in Fencing. His organization has won Olympic medals in both individual and team competitions. From the yea 2015 to 2016, his team has won the Overall World Cup title as the number one person.

Four American from his organization are ranked among the top eight in the world for fencing, more than most number than any other country.

Greg and the United States Men’s foil Team will return to international competition for the first time in a year since the March Doha Grand Prix in Qatar, at the Tokyo Olympic Games which will be postponed to July from March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Greg was one out of the seven coaches in the world to be recognized by the USOPC and was nominated as Olympic Coach of the year. It was on Wednesday, that they declared him as Olympic Coach of the year, 2020.
