12 Useful Summer Care Tips

Summer seems to be the season which is filled with lots of fun and the best time for a holiday or a trip but there also exists numerous skin care issues as well such as dryness, tan, sun burns, pimples, heat rashes, blemishes and many more.

Oily skin tends to get oilier and the dry skin starts turning rough and patchy.

Just using a good sunscreen lotion will not be enough to solve all the skin problems in summer but proper care for the skin as well hair should also be taken.

Increase vitamin C intake:

It has been found out that the vitamin C helps in maintaining healthy collagen which is the supportive tissue of the skin. Collagen helps in keeping the skin healthy, firm and strong. Start eating more of foods that are rich in vitamin C like orange, gooseberry, lemon, grapefruits, tomato and greeny leafy vegetables among several others.

Exfoliate your skin:

Exfoliating your skin is essential in summer as it helps in turning the texture of your skin to smooth and to provide your body with even skin tone. Exfoliating your skin by using natural ingredients would be preferable which can be done using coffee, yogurt, baking soda, sugar etc.

Summer affects you skin with sun burns and rashes which irritates your skin causing discoloration. This inflammation can be reduced by using natural ingredients like yogurt, tomatoes etc.

Sunscreen helps in protecting your skin from the direct rays of the sun which tend to be harmful on your skin that is exposed to the sun. A good sunscreen with a correct SPF must be applied repeatedly and frequently during  the start of your day and through out.

Face packs that are prepared at home with the natural ingredients must be applied over a specific time interval as it helps your damaged skin to rejuvenate. Several face packs and scrubs can be prepared at home with yogurt, lime, honey, cucumber, tomatoes, coffee, sugar etc.

Protect your eyes:

As the skin surrounding your eyes is sensitive and fragile, the hot summer rays of the sun tend to affect your eyes easily and therefore they should be protected by applying sunscreen around your eyes too and also applying home packs which help to soothe your eyes. Using sunglasses or glares would also help your eyes as they tend to act as a shield protecting your eyes from direct sun light.

The rays of the sun show harsh effects on your lips as the tissue present in the lips is very delicate. Make sure you carry a lip balm along with you at all times as applying a richly textured lip balm with a minimum SPF of 15 would help your lips stay hydrated and luscious. Application of coconut oil or ghee before you sleep in the night letting it stay for the whole night would protect your lips from chapping.

Make sure you wash your face before you sleep and that there is no makeup left on your face as sustained makeup all through the night might show adverse effects on your skin and can cause acne and blemishes.

Ice helps in soothing your skin and to reduce the inflammation that would be caused due being exposed to sun light as this might cause sun burns and heat rashes. Rolling an ice over your face before you sleep works really well as it not only helps your skin but also makes you feel relaxed and calmer after a tiresome day at work.

Pamper your hair:

The hot summer damages your hair due to the excess amount of sweat and heat and therefore washing your hair every day is highly recommended. Do not use strong shampoos or conditioners as that might damage your hair even more. Using a natural oil is preferable as the oils that are filled with chemicals would damage your hair and make your hair look dry after a wash.

Make sure you keep your skin hydrated as it needs around 8 to 12 glasses of water for maintaining a healthy skin. Eating fruits that contain water such as watermelon, muskmelon, coconut water etc. can also help in letting your skin stay hydrated and healthy

Take a shower with cool water:

Hot showers after a getting exposed to sun would further let your skin get dried up and the skin would turn rough. Therefore, taking a shower with cool water helps in keeping the skin unblocked and it also helps in reducing acne breakouts.
