The BCCI is willing to host a farewell match for former Indian captain MS Dhoni. The legendary cricketer put an end to his 16-year old career on Saturday, August 15.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the name that India would not forget, had shocked millions by announcing his retirement from international cricket on Saturday, August 15 at 19:29 hours.

The former Indian captain helped the country scale to new heights during his captaincy when India won the World cup in 2007. With his presence and his gaming superpower, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise has become the most loved one.

However, there is a profound sadness in the hearts of Indians and peer cricketers that Dhoni did not have a grand farewell like how Sachin Tendulkar had during his retirement.

Sachin Tendulkar received a cheerful and grand farewell from his home fans during his 200th test in 2013 against the West Indies in Wankhade stadium.

However, there is a slight home among fans that MS Dhoni would appear for one last time in front of the Indian fans through one final game.

In certain reports and from certain BCCI sources, the news of BCCI having plans to host a farewell match is trending on social media. Reportedly, the match will be conducted after the IPL 2020 final which is scheduled in November 2020.

Notably, the appeal for a final match for MS Dhoni has come from the top government sources with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren also demanding that a farewell game be organized for Dhoni at Jharkhand State Cricket Association stadium in Ranchi.

An anonymous BCCI official said that they were always thinking about a farewell match for Dhoni but the Indian cricket team wicketkeeper-batsman has made a sudden announcement of his retirement.

Several former players like Madan Lal have endorsed the fact that MS Dhoni deserves a farewell in front of his adoring home fans.

MS Dhoni, The Great

Dhoni is the only captain in the history of cricket to win all three major ICC trophies. While his first win was during the T20 world cup 2007, his next win came at ICC world cup win in 2011 which erased India’s 28 years of pain for not winning a world cup.

The greatness was complete with the Champions Trophy win for the second time when India beat England in 2013.

In addition to his powerful wicketkeeping and captaincy, Dhoni was a magnificent batsman who is best known for his finishing prowess.

MS Dhoni is currently in Chennai preparing for the IPL 2020 hoping to bring the trophy for the fourth time. CSK has lost to Mumbai in the final of IPL 2019 by just one single run at Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad.
