Indian-American Teen Graduates in California, Onward to Ph.D

A 15-year-old Indian-American child genius is geared up to start his doctorate after carrying out his graduation in biomedical engineering, reaching a milestone in his academic journey, according to a media report.

Tanishq Abraham, a graduate from the University of California, Davis with the maximum honors of summa cum laude.

"Of course I feel very happy, very excited, and I'm very proud of my accomplishments," Tanishq was quoted as saying by the FOX40.

"It was the best Father's Day gift for my husband and also my dad," says Tanishq's mother Taji Abraham, who is herself a doctor of veterinary sciences (her husband Bijou is a software engineer). "We are happy that his grandparents who are heart patients (both retired veterinary medical Ph.D. doctors) were able to see him graduate with a biomedical engineering degree and start his Ph.D. in the same field."

Tanishq has likewise designed a device that could measure the heart rate of burn patients without touching them.

As for the future, it is back into the lab at Davis for a Ph.D. and sooner or later medical school.

Tanishq has immense dreams of discovering keys to difficulties, the report said.

"Yeah, of course, what everybody likes to say and what I am also interested in is, of course, cancer and developing new treatments for cancer, more effective treatments for cancer," he said.

Tanishq has by now been acknowledged into the University of California, Davis graduate programme where he is planning to acquire his Doctor of Medicine (MD) in the following four to five years.
