According to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office an East Bay High school student was arrested and faces possible criminal charges for recording and distributing nude images of a school administrator.
The 17-year-old student at the Clayton Valley Charter High School in Concord was expelled on Monday (27th Feb) and several students were suspended after the inappropriate images of administrator David Linzey were shared. The deputies of County sheriff department said that the student has violated privacy laws.
"What he did was definitely wrong. It was terrible," student Adam Craig said.
The accused student was not identified. According to the reports the student recorded Linzey insider her locker room of the nearby Renaissance Club Sport in Walnut Creek and then he posted the video online.
Fellow students at the Clayton Valley Charter said that still other students may also be kicked out of the school, and they believe that the punishment has gone too far.
"They asked me to hand over my cell phone, which I consented to," student Grace Guis said.
She said at least seven other students, who shared the video were suspended. She was not one of them.
"It’s a bit unreal and aggressive and against the students," she said. "The administration is acting with the situation."
A spokesperson for the school said that it is clearly spelled out in the Clayton Valley Charter school handbook that “that "cyber bullying will not be tolerated, including posting or re-posting degrading, harmful or explicit pictures, messages or information using social media or other forms of electronic communication."
Here is the longer version of the Clayton Valley Charter School’s cyber bullying policy reviewed and acknowledged by all students.
"Cyber bullying will not be tolerated (including) posting, or re-posting degrading, harmful, or explicit pictures, messages, or information using social media or other forms of electronic communication, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, or texts … Consequences: 1st Offense: 2-3 day suspension, 2nd Offense: 3-5 day suspension and recommendation for alternative education program or expulsion. 3rd Offense: 5-Day Suspension. … Police notified as appropriate …The administration reserves the right to escalate the consequence(s) based on the severity of the offense."
