Egyptian inspired Hollywood movie with an Egyptian cast

Many Hollywood movies have been inspired by ‘Ancient Egypt.’ Movies, such as Mummy Trilogy and 10,000 have shown a strong resemblance to the ancient world. Not only those but in a lot and lot of movies we have seen the only ancient Wonder of the world still standing with all its might today.

But, for the first time a movie inspired by the ancient Egypt will be shot in the land of pyramids, featuring an Egyptian cast and crew.

“The Chosen Guard” will show a modern day story about Sabaa, who is the ‘chosen one’ by the ancient pharaohs to defend the Golden Temple, the last unopened relic in Egyptian antiquity.

In a press release the Action Film International has announced, unlike many Hollywood movies featuring white lead actors in Arab roles, the movie will star longtime Egyptian actor and martial artist Younsef Mansour.

Mansour will be co-directing with an American award-winning writer and director Courteny Miller. The movie will also mark Mansour’s comeback after sixteen years, after starring in the 2001 Badr.

Auditions will be held in Cairo next month, as the shoot is set to being from April. It’s a thriller movie and will also include martial arts, big dance numbers and car chase.

The filmmakers said that they will reflect the beauty of Egypt and its hospitable people, to encourage viewers to come and visit the country’s wonders themselves.

While shooting a film about ancient Egypt, in Egypt, makes perfect sense, this is not how it usually works.

Egyptian based movies are usually shot on sets built with with unique resemblance to the actual monuments. Many of them, such as the Mummy trilogy were shot in Morocco, one of the most important global movie centers, especially for Arab-inspired movies.
