Women to March in Bay Area

One day after the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States, tens of thousands of women to march in Bay Area with their families and friends to denounce the divisive and sexist campaign rhetoric that he rode to victory.

The January 21 marches mirror those planned across the country, including the Washington’s women march, which is expected to draw around 200,000 people. That event is anticipated to be one of the greatest demonstrations against the president-elect ever — and there have been many following his stunning victory.

Renee McKenna is one of the organizers of the San Francisco march, said the aim of the local event march is not to protest Donald Trump’s Presidential victory, but it is rather to celebrate diversity and inclusivity — themes arguably absent from the real estate mogul’s campaign.

“The spirit of the Women march is to bring people together in community around the things that we believe in and the things that we are for,” she said. Organizers have also "worked closely" with police to develop safety protocols.

Organizers will soon announce lineup of the event speakers soon in the coming days.
