Obama signs law mandating US male toilets to have baby change facility!

The United States president signed a new law, which makes it mandatory to have baby changing facilities in all male toilets in public buildings in the US.

Both male and female bathrooms should have a "physically safe, sanitary and appropriate" place to change a nappy.

The new law known as the Bathrooms Accessible in Every Situation (BABIES) Act, it was first raised back in April by Congressman David N Cicilline. "Federal buildings are paid for by taxpayers," he says.

"It's important to ensure that they are as open, as accessible, and as family-friendly as possible."

The act makes public places "more accommodating for working moms and dads" across the US.

Mr. Cicilline stated on his website, that, “Government needs to do more to ensure that public buildings are family-friendly. No mom or dad should ever have to worry about finding a safe, sanitary place to change their baby ? least of all in a federal building that’s paid for by taxpayers.”

“The BABIES Act is a common sense proposal that makes government buildings more welcoming for families and helps promote good public health,” he said.

The law defines “baby changing facility” as “a table or other device suitable for changing the diaper of a child of age 3 or under” and mandates that these facilities be “physically safe, sanitary, and appropriate”.
