A seven-year-old Virginia first grader born without hands has won a US national handwriting contest. Anaya Ellick beat out 50 other competitors from across the country. She does not use prosthetics and hold a a pencil between her arms to write.
The little girl was described as an "inspiration" by her principal, Tracy Cox from Greenbrier Christian Academy.
"She does not let anything get in the way of doing what she has set out to do," says Ms Cox.
"She is a hard worker and has some of the best handwriting in her class."
"I don't think Anaya thinks of it as an obstacle," he said.
ABC News reported that, Competition director Kathleen Wright, said that, "We looked at her writing and were just stunned to see how well her handwriting was considering, she writes without hands." "Her writing sample was comparable to someone who had hands," Wright added.
