Cow Palace gun show in Daly City, California, has drawn huge crowds on Saturday, 9 January 2015. Hundreds of people waited, even as it was drizzling, for the doors to open and the Crossroads of the West gun show kicked off at the famed exhibition hall for a two-day run.

Show owner Bob Templeton, a Utah resident, said earlier in the week that, "There are a lot of first-time buyers. They're here for two reasons -- the safety of their family and President Obama's call for more gun control."

Vendors were all through the sprawling exhibit hall selling everything from ear plugs and T-shirts to kits allowing to make own AR-15 semi-automatics. Unscientific sampling of attendees have not found anyone opposing the background checks at gun shows, proposed by President Obama. Even though such checks are a part of California law, many were suspicious about President is opposed to all gun ownership, even though Obama insisted that he is not.

Greg Simkins of Oakley was planning to buy one of the AR-15 kits, made by United Armory. He said that, "Obama can't be trusted. He'll push his agenda no matter what."Some, particularly in the in the liberal Bay Area, said they would retain their gun ownership to themselves.
