Rules soon to define an 'International School'

Jose Aikara, Chairman, Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE), took part in the annual symposium organized by Vaels International School in Chennai recently. He made it clear that the Clear government will come out with the guidelines essential as rules and regulations to define an international school very soon.

The standardization is very much needed to regulate the increasing number of schools with the tag ‘international’ to them.

Mr. Aikara said associating with the Council is turning out to be more management, principal and student friendly. The affiliation process has been very lengthy and time consuming. Now, affiliating with the Council would be introduced online soon.

Briefing reporters, Mr. Aikara said, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka were the states that had the maximum number of schools affiliated to the Council. Tamil Nadu has around 125 ICSE schools and over 1900 schools are affiliated to the Council.

Speaking about the Right to Education Act, he said, “The Council cannot come as a party”, but expects all its schools to follow the State's directions as per the Act.  (msn)
