Sasikiran to lead Indian challenge in AAI Chess tourney

NEW DELHI: National champion Parimarjan Negi will face world junior number one, Grandmaster Fabiano Caruana of Italy while India's number two K Sasikiran will lock horns with Philippines' GM Wesely So in the first round of AAI Grandmasters Chess Tournament beginning on Tuesday.

Apart from the quartet, the other two players, who will feature in the inaugural tournament, are World champion Hou Yifan of China and Czech Republic's number two GM Viktor Laznicka.

The players will be pitted against each other in a double round robin format. The AAI Officer's Institute near Safdarjung airport will be the venue for the tournament, which will conclude on July 2.
