How do I stop my child being naughty?

The simplest way to do this is to accept its going to happen. At the end of the day kids will be kids. Do not expect them to be perfect little angels. They are devils in disguise, do not be fooled.

All children will misbehave at times, its programmed into them. They are sent here to test us.

Learning what you will and will not accept is the hardest challenge. What do you class as being naughty?

Does your child even know what the word naughty means? Are they at an age where they understand why they should not do something?

Is writing on your newly painted cream walls with a bright red crayon naughty? Or should you have kept those crayons hidden away in a box and only brought out when you can supervise?

Is rubbing food in your hair rather than eating it naughty? Or is it just good fun?

There are times when our child being naughty can really push our buttons.

When they hit, bite, push another child then this behaviour needs to be kicked in the bud and fast.

These situations rely on you being fast, yes you. You need to be up, stepping in, distracting them before they even get the chance to commit the act.

When they misbehave do you give warnings?

Do you have a punishment method?

Are you being fair?

Have you dealt with the “problem” in a calm way and also explained why they must not do that?

Have you asked your child to apologise?

The key to stopping your child being naughty is Distraction.
