CBI inquiry on Yedyurappa

The Supreme Court has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to probe alleged illegal assets by the Karnataka chief minister, Yedyurappa. The court gave this order in the wake of continuous allegations against Yedyurappa stating that many irregularities took place in during Yedyurappa’s rule.

It has to be mentioned here that Yedyurappa formed the first BJP government in Karnataka by overthrowing the decades of Congress rule in the state. But, he has been facing problems not just from the opposition Congress but even from the internal members too. It may be recalled that a team of BJP leaders headed by tourism minister Gali Janardhan Reddy stayed at a hotel in Hyderabad to work out their strategy in removing Yedyurappa from the chief minister post.

At that point of time, the Congress called in for a no-confidence motion. Yedyurappa, however, proved his majority and with Gali Janardhan Reddy’s arrest by yhe CBI, Yedyurappa seemed to have governed the state in peace. Today the CBI inquiry on Yedyurappa apparently came as a shock not just to him but to all the supporters of Yeddy. (Phani)
