At the age of 13, an Indian American musical prodigy from California is mastering 107 diverse instruments, ranging from guitars and harps and some most people never even knew existed.
Neil Nayyar set foot in ASSIST World Records at the age of 12 for mastering in 44 instruments.
“Music is my passion. I sleep in music. I wake up in music, and I play music all day,” says Nayyar.
Nayyar’s father Rajan Nayyar says: “Nayyar practices for almost 8 hours every day, and has 25 music teachers who develop his musical prowess. His passion and dedication are apparent to a lot of people.”

Nayyar has been featured in Fox10, ABC10, Good News Network, and many other prominent media.
The Indian American prodigy auditioned for America’s Got Talent, the Steve Harvey Show, and many other leading shows. He also has signed a contract with an acting agency in Los Angeles.
According to Rajan, his son’s passion for music began in his mother’s womb itself when his parents played Mozart to him. He started his musical journey at the age of 5 with the first drumming class.
“He has a definite adherence to jazz, hip hop, Bollywood music,” says Rajan. “He is a fan of Bollywood movies too, especially those starring Salman Khan.”
“Every kid has something… But sometimes parents notice, [and] sometimes they do not. When we notice, that spark can become a fire. That’s what happened with Neil,” said Rajan Nayyar.
“We found that one person made a record, where at the age of 27, [the musician] played 23 instruments…. Then he [Neil] was looking at that musician – ‘if he can play that, why can’t I?’” Rajan Nayyar added.
Recently, the teenager composed a song with making use of all 107 of his instruments. The album is expected to be released in 2020.
