Bay Area groups to help Nepal rebuild 1 year after disaster

Several Bay Area aid teams have reached in Nepal to help the country rebuild after one year of massive earthquake. The Nepal government is struggling to manage the country after disaster in April, last year.

A Fremont resident, Jonathan Khoo was there and said that, "People were running down the stairs, as things were shaking. It helps you prepare mentally so you have a plan of attack even if you don't have a conscious effort."

The  magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Nepal in April, 2015 and caused 9,000 people lives and left more than  21,000 injured. There were millions left homeless.

Dr. Walter Mooney, with the U.S. Geological Survey, said that, "It shook a very large part of the country, not only Kathmandu the capital city, but the surrounding areas."

"I think people should go and still support the tourism which has been and continues to be a large part of their economy," said Khoo.
