It's been roughly seven months since the 23-year-old woman was brutally gang-raped in a moving bus in the capital city on December 16 last year. But despite of all the ballyhoo and beefed up preventive measures, Delhi continues to burgeon as the “rape capital” of the country.

With a total of 706 rape cases reported in 2012 alone, and with more than five cases of rape being reported every day since the past few months, Delhi police and administration has failed to offer ample security to the “fair sex”.

Delhi Police and Ministry of Home Affairs' tall claims to secure the city by increasing police presence on the streets and beefing up security checks in buses and cabs remain unfulfilled.

Although there was a dip in rape cases reported after the fortnight of the heinous crime, the numbers have sky-rocketed post that period.
