33rd Anniversary Celebration - Badarikashrama held at Badarikashrama Oakland.
Cultural Program for the 33rd Anniversary of Badarikashrama,a spiritual and cultural center in San Leandro. First a Hindu puja to the Lord Ganesha by Swami Vishnumayanandaji , Prayers by Rev. Dr. Arlene K. Nehring,Senior Minister, Eden United Church of Christ,Hayward. Prayers by Eden Area Interfaith Counsel. Music by Sri Ma Durga Bhajan Mandali, Indian Classical Dance,Odissi Dance by Nataraj School of Dance. Growing up in America as Hindu,Sikh,Muslim,Jain,Jewish: young people from minorities will discuss their experiences of growing up in America. Embracing the Boundaries: discussion from those who started out in one tradition and then embraced another tradition. Also represented are people who incorporated other traditions other than their own tradition. Hindu,Muslim,Sikh,Jewish,Spiritual Independents. Music : Small Town Society with Paul Keim & Group Smalltown Society is a group of artists and advocates from diverse backgrounds coming together to engage in the stories of human struggle for meaning and justice. Unity Mandala Workshop with Salma Arastu. Join with your friends and neighbors in creating a group mandala with artist Salma Arastu. Arastu brings together traditions and imagery from many cultures and religions to unify people in collaborative projects. She will begin by sketching out the structure of the mandala and each participant will fill in their own circle with symbols and artwork of their own. Art supplies provided by the ashrama or bring your own. Lunch Provided. Free and open to all. Sunday, May 21st at 10:30 am Samuhika Sri Satyanarayana Swami Puja & Katha, an ancient Vedic Indian worship for the health,happiness, peace, and properity of participants and the world. All welcome. Free. Lunch served.
